Over the festive period, the Dorothy Parkes Centre and St Albans Community Association worked together on their third ‘Christmas Give a Gift Appeal’ in partnership with SCIPS and Sandwell Council to help make Christmas a special time of year for those who may have been struggling after a difficult year.

The appeal was a resounding success with over 300 presents distributed out into the community in the build up to Christmas. The appeal was supported by so many individuals, community groups, schools and businesses. We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who helped by donating gifts, wrapping gifts and delivering the gifts.

Tonia Flannagan, Chief Executive Officer at St Albans Community Association said:

“We had a tremendous response to this campaign and feel that it was the most successful appeal we have done. We had over 300 gifts donated which were distributed to families in need and to older people who do not have any family or receive gifts. We were amazed at the generosity of local people”.

“Christmas is the season of goodwill and given all of the challenges in the country throughout 2021 with COVID, the increase in cost of living, and reduction of benefits, this appeal has helped put smiles on many people’s faces this Christmas.”
