Summer Science Show - Bugs Theme

The Dorothy Parkes Centre has recently been successful in receiving a grant from the Millennium Point Trust. The grant will allow us to work in partnership with Femtinos and deliver Science Workshops over a twelve-month period during the school holidays. We want to engage with primary school-aged children and parents who would not normally participate in such high-level learning and engagement. The shows will be designed to involve actual Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) learning, not just a “wow” demonstration, but interactive opportunities and engagement for the families to explore science in a fun way, getting them to realise the vast scope of STEM beyond just the classroom. 

 

In this science show, we'll be learning about plants and bugs at the allotment! Come ready for the British weather, as we take part in various activities from exploring the plant cells using microscopes, to identifying the vegetable plants and flowers.

It's another fancy dress show! Come dressed up as your favourite bug or insect!

All bookings are non refundable

Adults are expected to stay with the children during the session

Please note that filming / photography will take place at this event for promotional purposes.  The photographs and recordings made are likely to appear on both our and Femtinos website and social media.  If you would prefer not to be photographed / recorded please let the photographer know.

The community allotment is based at Bearwood Allotments, Dale Street, Bearwood, B66 4HX.  When parking on Dale Street, we would ask that you park on the railings side rather than the residents side of the street.

A member of staff will greet you at the gate at 11am or 1.30pm to take you down to the allotment plot.
