Thursday 9th July 2020

Following on from recent Government announcements regarding the opening of community centres, and today, the opening of gyms and leisure centres, we are delighted to announce our action plan for reopening the Dorothy Parkes Centre.

We have consulted with all of our community user groups and we are working on meeting the guidance for the safe use of multi-purpose community facilities which will include carrying out a risk assessment, ensuring that the Centre is deep cleaned, implementing social distancing, encouraging regular hand washing, and providing PPE. Our main priority, naturally, is the safety of our staff, volunteers and service users.

Providing that we can meet these requirements, we will have a phased reopening, commencing week beginning 10th August 2020. There will be a limited number of groups allowed to return, for a period of three weeks, which will allow us to monitor and review all of our safety measures which are in place, and enable us to make any amendments required. We will then reopen and welcome back all groups, from Tuesday 1st September 2020.

We would advise members of all groups to contact their group leader for details of start dates etc.

Private Hire bookings will be dealt with on an individual basis and we will make contact with all hirers over the course of the next couple of weeks.

We would like to thank everybody associated with the Centre for your patience, help & support, throughout this extremely challenging time and thank you to our funders for emergency grants which have allowed us, financially, to be in a position to be able to reopen.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to your Community Centre.

*Please be advised that all of the above could be subject to change, should there be another outbreak at national or local level and Government guidance changes*
