Passenger Assistant Volunteer Role Description for Passenger Assistant Role Summary We are working in partnership with St Albans Community Centre and they require a passenger assistant to support the minibus driver to safely collect day care clients which caters for adults 50+. Main activities/tasks Always adhere to Health & Safety procedures. Collect clients from their homes and assist them onto the bus. Seat and safe belt every client. Ensure the safety of every client on the bus ensuring you sit at the back of the minibus. Report any clients feeling unwell to the driver. Once at the centre, escort clients into the day centre and assist to sit down. Assist clients on their return journeys using the same protocols Relevant experience/skills To be passionate about working with older people in the community. This person needs to have good interpersonal skills and be confident when dealing with people. They need to be good motivators of individuals and support clients to attend St Albans services whilst promoting social inclusion and interaction between users of the centre, staff, and volunteers. Training and support We have an induction process, during which we give volunteers the information we believe they need to enjoy their time with us. The Community Navigator will give volunteers any specific information they need before starting. Volunteers will have supervision with the Community Navigator to allow them to give and receive feedback about their work. They are encouraged to bring up any concerns or questions as soon as they arise and make an input into the overall development of our Centre. Availability Mornings and/or afternoons. A routine can be established and agreed with the Community Navigator. Days can be flexible to work around other commitments.
