Get involved Volunteering Preschool Volunteer Role Description for Preschool Role Summary We are working in partnership with St Albans Community Centre to support their preschool provision. St Albans preschool is OFSTED inspected and the aim is to meet the requirements of each individual child taking into consideration a child’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs ensuring all children feel included, secure and valued. Main activities/tasks: To be responsible for participating in daily routines such as hand washing, snack time, meet and greet, lunch time and washing up. To support staff in meeting the physical needs of children, encouraging good standards of hygiene, whilst promoting independence. Partake in activities with children such as play, crafts, outdoor play, story time and cleaning of facilities once finished. To promote inclusion of all children and build positive, trusting and sensitive relationships with children. To be committed to safeguarding children and report any concerns. They would be provided with an induction covering aspects of health and safety (particularly around COVID), safeguarding and our expectations. Relevant experience/skills A keen interest to work with children aged from 2 years up to 4 years and 11 months. Training and support We have an induction process, during which we give volunteers the information we believe they need to enjoy their time with us. The Community Navigator will give volunteers any specific information they need before starting. Volunteers will have supervisions with the Community Navigator to allow them to give and receive feedback about their work. They are encouraged to bring up any concerns or questions as soon as they arise and make an input into the overall development of our Centre. Availability Monday – Friday 9:00am–12pm. A routine can be established and agreed with the Community Navigator. One volunteer is required to work a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9am – 12 noon. Additional information Based at St Albans Community Centre, St Albans Road, Smethwick, B67 7NL A DBS certificate will be required and two references.
