We were unable to carry out the litter pick on 11th April as the country was in lockdown due to Covid-19. Thankfully, by 9th May, the lockdown had been relaxed somewhat so after liaising with Friends of Thimblemill Brook and Sandwell Council, we decided to carry out a small and informal community litter, adhering to health & safety guidelines and ensuring social distancing. Rob, Nicola, and Lexi carried out the litter pick on what was a lovely and quiet morning, the day after VE day celebrations had taken place! We followed the usual route and in all fairness, the brook wasn’t too bad. Church Road was particularly bad and some areas of Stanhope Road were quite bad too. We came across empty glass bottles of vodka, the small gas cannisters and empty cans and plastic bottles as well as an old strimmer!

Next community litter pick is scheduled for Saturday 13th June – 10am
