On Tuesday 19th September members of our Art Works for Wellbeing group were treated to a trip out to The Barber Institute of Fine Arts. The Barber is home to ‘one of the finest small art galleries in Europe’, and a concert hall with ‘perfect acoustics, comfort, and rest for the eye’, the Barber Institute is as unique as it is uplifting - a haven of tranquillity on a bustling university campus in a major metropolis.

The trip was made possible thanks to some seed money from Creative Black Country as part of their Creative Communities scheme and it was followed up with a Clay Workshop the following week, delivered by local artist, Ruth Turnbull.

Our artists had a great day with some experiencing an art gallery for the first time ever and some going outside of Sandwell for the first time in a long time.

A big thanks to Creative Black Country, our Arts facilitators Kim and Ruth, and our volunteers who helped out on the day.

Our Art Works for Wellbeing group takes place at the Centre, every Tuesday, 10.30am – 1.30am, and is free. All welcome, regardless of art ability.
