We are pleased to announce that Cocaine Anonymous recently begun holding their meetings at the Centre every Monday 7.30pm - 8.30pm, to support anyone with issues around alcohol and drugs.

Cocaine Anonymous (CA) is a global fellowship of men and women for whom drugs and/or alcohol had become a major problem. It has worked for many thousands of addicts and alcoholics worldwide, who now live lives free from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Despite the name, CA is not about any particular drug. Many of our members did a lot of cocaine; others used only a little, and some never even tried cocaine. Some CA members had a problem with a specific mind-altering substance, such as alcohol, heroin or ketamine, and others used a wide variety of mind-altering substances.

CA was founded in California in 1982. Today, there are more than 3,000 weekly meetings throughout the world. In the UK, CA started with a single weekly meeting in London in 1992. In 2024 there are over 900 meetings weekly across the UK, including 6 weekly meetings in Birmingham. There are also hundreds of meetings weekly online.

CA uses the "Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous" for its 12-Step programme but is not affiliated with AA, or other 12-Step fellowships, or any other organisation. It is not funded by any third parties and running costs are met by members voluntary contributions. CA encourages its members to observe complete abstinence from all drugs, including alcohol. This is primarily achieved by attending regular meetings and practising the 12-Steps of CA.

Meetings provide a ‘sanctuary’ where addicts and alcoholics can support one another and form new friendships. The principle of "anonymity" allows addicts and alcoholics to attend meetings without fear of legal or social repercussions and supports an atmosphere of equality in meetings. The 12 Steps of CA teaches honesty, open-mindedness, willingness, acceptance, humility, integrity, selfless service and more.
