Global’s Make Some Noise - the official charity of Global, the Media & Entertainment group - today announced grants totalling over £2.6 million for life changing projects in local communities across the UK.  The funding provides a vital lifeline in communities – with the charities continued vision that nobody in the UK should face life’s toughest challenges alone, tackling issues such as mental health, poverty and homelessness.

Live on Global radio stations today, it was revealed that 41 small charities would receive a grant raised by Global’s Make Some Noise to help support the amazing work they do.

Global’s Make Some Noise funds crucial grassroots projects across the UK with the aim to make sure that nobody is left facing life’s toughest challenges alone. The grant giving charity raises funds and awareness of the biggest issues affecting society, and it gives the small charities it supports an opportunity to reach over 26.6 million weekly listeners across Global’s radio brands including Capital, Heart, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC, Radio X, Capital XTRA and Gold.

The Centre has a thriving, award-winning community allotment project which produces large quantities of fresh, homegrown produce and our ambition is to use the produce and deliver free cooking courses for families and children at the Centre. The courses will focus on cooking on a budget and using fresh fruit and vegetables which are cheaper and healthier. The funding secured from Global’s Make Some Noise will cover the costs of a ‘dream kitchen’, completely new, semi-commercial, modern, accessible, and facilities to cater for these courses. The funds will also cover the costs of 60 cooking sessions taking place between July and March.

Robert Bruce, CEO at Dorothy Parkes Centre, said “We are so excited at the prospect of having a new community kitchen at our Centre. This is something we have needed for a number of years and we are so grateful to Global’s Make Some Noise for awarding us the grant which will turn our dreams into a reality. It was incredible to receive more funding than we applied for, in order for us to get the high-quality spec kitchen. It will leave a legacy and a facility which many members of our local community can enjoy for many years to come.”
