The beginning......

The idea of having a community allotment plot came about when a volunteer consultant for our Centre, Sanjaya, met with Mick from Bearwood Road Allotments to discuss the possibility of DPC taking on a plot.

The plot available was in a state of disrepair so Sanjaya, along with our CEO, Rob and volunteer fundraiser, Derek, decided to make a funding application to the Postcode Local Trust, to transform the plot into an outdoor community classroom.

A lot of work went on behind the scenes in formulating a vision for the plot, a budget and plan for sustainability.

We were fortunate enough to secure the funding, recruit Karen and begin the project. As you can see from the pictures, there was a lot of work ahead!!
